One of my 35 year old mild steel diesel tanks on my motor sailer has developed a pin hole leak ( somewhere lower part of tank ) tank now emptied.
Could any one recommend a steel fabricators in the Gosport / Fareham area that could either repair or make a new 40 gallon shapped diesel tank , please.
David.

You will probably find that once you have cleaned it there are more weak spots and not worth repairing.

If going for new then consider a Plastic tank from Tek Tanks (located just up the road near Alton). Made to measure competitive with steel and longer lasting.

Fluid fabrications in the Sanderson Centre off Forton Road in Gosport 02392 581366.
They had made lots of stainless bits and pieces for me, and I know they make stainless tanks hence the name. They may not make mild steel but will know who does

Any local fabricator will be able to repair the tank. Doesn't have to be a marine rip-off company. Even if the entire bottom the tank has to be replaced it will be a fraction of the cost of a plastic or stainless tank!

As Tranona says, you will almost certainly find the problem of pin holes so far up the sides and ends, not just confined to the bottom, so at least the whole bottom half to replace, by the time the baffles have been sorted, and incorporated into the new bits, new may be the way to go.

Thanks for all those who responded , will get quotes for plastic , stainless and mild steel . When the tank is removed could ask advice of fabricators whether its worth having lower and bottom sections of tank replaced. And go from there.
Thanks again,
David.
