Hope to be working on my boat tomorrow and need a bit of advise about the heating. When I bought the boat it came with an installation manual but not an operating one. Can someone give me a brief lesson in its operation or e-mail me instructions.

Thanks.

Phill.

Operating the MY30....

I think Cliff thought he was giving you a link to an operating manual, but of course the link is to the installation manual, which you said you already have.

Operating the MY30 is easy, and it's similar to other heaters. Make sure power is connected. Press the left side of the switch on the thermostat box to start the heater - you should hear the fan motor start. After about a minute, the heater should fire up and warm air will come from the outlets. The heater runs either at 3.5kW or 1.75kW, and the adjustable thermostat controls whether it runs at full or half heat (ie it'll run at full until the cabin reaches the required temperature, then it'll drop to half heat to maintain the temperature).

If it doesn't start properly, the supply voltage may be low (it needs at least 11.0v to start). If this is the case, you might try starting it with the engine running - this usually boosts the voltage enough to ensure a reliable start. If it fails to start 3 times, you need to get it looked at by someone who knows. Don't keep trying to start it; you could flood it with fuel.

When you switch it off, ensure the power remains connected until it's totally stopped. After you switch off, the fan motor will keep running for a couple of minutes. This is to ensure the heat exchanger is cooled down and exhaust gasses are removed, both for safety.

If you press the switch the other way, the fan alone will operate to circulate cool air.

And remember to keep fenders away from the exhaust outlet!

HTH, as they say in acronym land.

Re: Operating the MY30....

Thanks for that, all makes sense now.
Yesterday I switched rocker to left and fan started but no heat. Obviously didn't leave it on for long enough.
Will try again.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, I know it said installation manual, but if you RTFM you will find a section on starting the heater and running it! Section 7 IIRC.

Another brilliant, funny, and illuminating post, Cliff.

Re: Brilliant....

And just where did i get it wrong here you little fuckwit. Page 7 gives the startup procedure for the unit if anyone cared to read it instead of going off half cocked as usual.

Perhaps if you tried replying to posts instead of lurking in the background criticising others you might get on better?

And here is another hammer for you
