Am I correct? after eagerly awaiting Yachting Monthly's A-Z of second hand boats. September's edition part 29 ended with Sadler 32 and October's edition part 30 has started with the Seamaster series leapfroging and not featuring our beloved Sarum 28. Why oh why? Robert Tucker designed and over 30 built .

Shame, as they are nice boats, and would seem to fit the original series brief of being among "hundreds of the most popular boats on the [UK] market" Should have appeared in part 29, between Samphire and Scampi.

Am I right in thinking they were not production built? The series does seem to concentrate on production models, and very much based on James Jermain's testing experience. Maybe he's never sailed one ... try an invite!
 
It does seem strange whats in and out of the list - though I suppose that ther are litterally hundreds of different classes. From my perspective the Centurion 32 got a brief mention, but none of the others in the range were included (36, 38, 40). Perhaps there is a volume requirement being used to trim the list to manageable proportions.

Oddly, they got a rave review from YM

when they first came on the market - I remember it distinctly; it is one of the two YM reviews over the decades that I do remember; the other one was the Twister, which was another rave review.

Shame they have been omitted.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes they were built by Baco and ours was fitted out by Custom Marine, at Wooton Bridge on the Isle of Wight, and I know several others were too. Nice to know they had rave reviews as they certainly are value for money, to have full standing headroom in a 28ft yacht.

I've searched the magazine indexes on this website but I cannot find any record of the rave YM review referred to in these posts, in fact no test at all. I'm interested because I've been contemplating buying a Sarum 28, the twin-keeled version. Could you please tell me something about the sailing qualities of these boats, e.g. how do they go to windward, are they stiff, and what are they like in a blow. Are there any particular problems with the aluminium hull ? I'd be glad to hear anything you can tell me.
