Midland Pacific Waterproof Handheld VHF

I havn't tried one, but I do know it was designed with the European market in mind having the channels we need (so why did they call it the pacific??). Its imported by Unipart Marine...yes, that parts and logistics company that was floated off from British Leyland in the 1980s..and a success story I understand.

Sorry i can't be more help, but I am suprised it did not appeared in the budget section of the handheld test in a recent PBO. They included a quite weedy 3w Cobra for £50 that is only splashproof. At roughly £70 the Midland Pacific appears a better package.

I guess it must be a fairly new model because it didn't show up in any google searches I did for handhelds at the time that test was published.

It's stocked by a couple of local chandlers so I'll go and cop a feel.

the standard horizon 270 or similar actually won the previous PBO hand held test. I've got one and it's a superb piece of kit - street price around £69.........it also gota mention I think in the last PBO test but didn't win this time

easy to use, built well, thoroughly recommended

No longer available unfortunately. I tried to buy a Standard Horizon HX500E a couple of weeks ago and that's been discontinued as well (replaced by a more expensive LiIon battery version).
