Crossing over to Ramsgate last night, Monday 17th of August we tried to use our usual route across the Sunk just NE of Middle Sunk, our regular route which we have been using for three or four years that starts at a waypoint at 51 40.45N 1 20.0E has 6m at LAT shown on the chart and largely confirmed by experience. Starting to cross last night about an hour before LW we grounded bang on the above waypoint in a boat which draws 1.7m. Reading the thread on the SW Sunk passage this evening it occurs to me that the bank may have moved NE to fill the Middle Sunk Swatchway that we have been using.

We will be using the SW Sunk on the way back, I have just uploaded the waypoints.

I regret I haven't tried this year to check out the Middle Sunk but your experience seems to suggest that north-east finger has spread even further.

By coincidence the PLA have been surveying that area and last night I was told that I will be sent the data in a little while when they have finished processing it all. Unfortunately the snapshot they have sent me, whilst it suggests you might have been fine once past the 'finger', doesn't extend that far so as to be able to tell you their findings at that spot. However, it should come in due course and in the meantime, you will find the SW Sunk fine.
