Mid-summer's-day....

Re: Mid-summer\'s-day....

Monsoon season was drier, and warmer.

May, thought I'll get ahead on work, and spend full time getting boat sorted, launch for Whit, it rained and was cold.

June, thought I'll get ahead on work, and spend full time getting boat sorted, launch for july 1st, it's cold, wet, not only wet but the dreaded Cornish mist as well.

O'well get on with work, now getting ahead for July, and planning to get boat ready, now fitting stalls to take two animals each.

What a great opportunity to get the silcone gun out and track down all those annoying little leaks,no need to get the hose out..Beats sun bathing/drinking beer.

Early winter...........

Looks and feels as though it's about to snow down here in the SW!

Forecast is looking better for the end of the week, less wind and the possible (fleeting?) appearance of that great orange ball in the sky.

BTW What happened to the Scillies cruise, permanent postponement? Did it ever stop blowing after you were due to set off?

Re: Mid-summer\'s-day....

Seek sunnier climes? and how does one get there, I have a boat and crew stuck in some port in NE Biscay and all they have to report is a charming port captain who has seen no UK boats for ages. They have the local Customs sitting in the warmth of the engine room and no-one intends going anywhere until the 4 metre waves have died down.

Re: Early winter...........

West Country cruise cancelled, Scillies cancelled, Milford Haven to Waterford cancelled....and is the North Wales to Dublin going to survive on 21-24 June?

All due to wind / rain - everything yachtsmen love - now there's a thought, why don't we all sell our motor cruisers and but yachts. Then we might be able to go on these cruises....

At least the Channel Islands cruise was a success - that makes one out of four.

What odds on the next 4?

Re: Early winter...........

Sad state of affairs and typically British . At least in the Med the highs last a lot longer, was in Costa Del Sol
late April 5 out of 7 days flat seas. Pity I was'nt on them though

Re: 7 day Summer

The 1st day of Summer is Friday 21st June
MidSummers day is Monday 24th June
Therefore last day of Summer must be 27th June.

So Summer officially lasts 7 days. Don't miss it!

Re: Early winter...........

Am going to Cork in October with other yotties on a challenge boat
knowing my luck it will be bright sunshine all the way there and back
with no need to get the oilies out or develop hypothermia at night.

If it Cooks Flys or Floats, Rent it.

Aha! I didn't want to say this before, but I thought the tank had been emptied and Columbus discovered it and called it - now what was it? One of the Carribean islands - or a somewhat larger landmass....
