Having reached a certain age milestone a few years ago (it has a 5 in it!) I seem to be in pursuit of eternal youth! So much so that on Wednesday I took a PWC (Jetski) proficiency course. My body is now telling me that while the mind may be willing, the body is somewhat less understanding/forums/images/icons/frown.gif. On top of that I spent yesterday helming a powerful rib around the Solent with "corporate" clients who thought the rides were better than anything on offer from Alton Towers or Disney Land - today my poor old bod is feeling like it's been thru the washing machine a few times/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif. However dispite the "pain" it beats working in an office all day long and it's great to watch folks reaction when you say I do this for a living! Monday will see me out on a jet ski yet again doing an instructor conversion. So I'll be racked with stiffness again. But do I care? Not a bit of it! I wished I'd discovered mid life crisis years ago/forums/images/icons/wink.gif As someone once said - "Youth is wasted on the young" Role on Monday! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif - have to use a "smiley", my daughter reckons I'm to old to use the word "cool"! Any other "old" buggers out there feeling the same? Oh, today I spent doing a VHF course for two guys from SeaStart so the old bones have had a little respite!

it goes something like this....

suddenly realise that in a short time i'm no longer a 30 something.. (that came as a shock)... but then never been good with numbers...

look in the mirror.... the mush staring back ain't me.... is it??!

look closely at my clothes... they ain't mine either!.... are they?

almost put socks on before sandles... just for comfort!!!

and.... i can dance!!! .... when the hell did i learn to dance... oh yeah.. my dad taught me!!!

a lot of other scarey stuff happening... most of which i wouldn't go into here...

and to top it all.... go on have a guess.... no??

my mrs bought me a book... no not on boat restoration... or engines.... no...

the male menopause... (i appologise kim, when taken in context i'm sure you'll understand) the f******g male menopause!!!

now i'm pretty laid back and unassuming, i like to take things in my stride and make the best out of what iv'e got... but this mid life crisis thing has knocked me for six! so i'm glad that someone else is feeling it too.... albeit some what later than me.

as for my wifes efforts to cheer me up.... well..... i'm gonna miss her!

regards, steve.

Well David

Glad that its not only me that feels all beat up after jetbike or boating trips. This might help a bit. Roy

The cardiologist's diet:
If it tastes good, spit it out.

Maybe it's true that life begins at fifty.
But everything else starts to
wear out, fall out, or spread out.

There are three signs of old age.
The first is your loss of memory,
the other two I forget.

You're getting old when
you don't care where your spouse goes,
just as long as you don't have to go along.

Middle age is when work is a lot less fun
and fun a lot more work.

Statistics show that at the age of seventy,
there are five women to every man.
Isn't that the darndest time for a guy to get those odds?

You know you're getting on in years
when the girls at the office start confiding in you.

Middle age is when it takes longer to rest than to get tired.

By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step,
he's too old to go anywhere.

Middle age is when
you have stopped growing at both ends,
and have begun to grow in the middle.

Of course I'm against sin;
I'm against anything that I'm too old to enjoy.

A man has reached middle age
when he is cautioned to slow down by his doctor
instead of by the police.

Middle age is having a choice of two temptations
and choosing the one that will get you home earlier.

You know you're into middle age when
you realize that caution is the only thing
you care to exercise.

At my age, "getting a little action" means
I don't need to take a laxative.

Don't worry about avoiding temptation.
As you grow older, it will avoid you.

You're getting old when
getting lucky means
you find your car in the parking lot.

You're getting old when
you're sitting in a rocker
and you can't get it started.

You're getting old when
your wife gives up sex for Lent,
and you don't know until the 4th of July.

You're getting old when
you wake up with that morning-after feeling,
and you didn't do anything the night before.

Doctor to patient: I have good news and bad news:
the good news is that you are not a hypochondriac.

It's hard to be nostalgic
when you can't remember anything.

You know you're getting old when
you stop buying green bananas.

Last Will and Testament:
Being of sound mind, I spent all my money

I feel a "young" old codgers forum coming on here chaps! Suggest we set up a meet - only 50 pluses allowed! Zimmer frames can be provided for those of an unsteady nature. That should be all of us by the end off the evening!/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I seem to remember that we both had a big smile on our faces in the solent playing as big kids!! and boy was it fun - I still have a big grin on my face. That "missing" bit of Solent that we dropped in was ACE. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Now we both appreciate why we enjopy things - my kids are sure I'm the biggest KID in the house. and long may it last. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Happy birthday Steve - now, of course, the fact that things take longer could have all sorts of implications!!/forums/images/icons/wink.gif
