Anyone bought a reasonable compact microwave that also acts like a normal oven for their boat recently. Assume all are 240v, but do these need anymore room/air around them than a conventional microwave?

Nearly forgot, prefer a sexy stainless/stainless look cos i'm a tart.

I installed a microwave/grill in my Bayliner 285 in a space very confined and it works a treat with shore power and generator. Only a cheap thing from Comet. Would have put a combi in but they are much deeper in size and would'nt fit in the space I had but should work fine.

I have a combi - they are actually microwave/oven and grill - so effectively they have an element behind the back of the Microwave as well as above the oven area - good for Jacket Potatoes is about all I can think of as you microwave and bake at the same time - the Microwave/grill would do a treat me thinks although my self I prefer the proper gas oven/grill ....

ours is all elec to, we got a nice stainless combi from miller brothers for less than a £100 and it does everything you can do at home in the oven. (well so swmbo says ). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, dinky 3 function Panasonic from C*rrys. 3/4 the size of domestic ones; does the same job with up to 1000 watts.

A combi is microwave, grill and convection oven and can be used each individually or a combination for example oven with microwave will cook food quicker than just an oven.

Mine will microwave or grill like any ordinary grill but will not work as an ordinary oven. Thats the differance.

By the way I am considering buying a new Bavaria 30 sport in fact I have a holding deposit on one. Did you view her at Libs? What did you think? its the show boat I'm considering ive been offered a fair part ex price. I think! Keep thing I'm mad to buy brand new!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hmm, Bavaria are very good boats, but I didn't like the cockpit arrangement of the 30 - much prefered the older 29.
Do you mind if I ask what the deal is - PM if you prefer.

Either way, hull is the same as the 29, and is bloody good. Feels like a boat 5 feet bigger.

Are miller brothers web only?

I put a sharp microwave and grill in my 30 foot Chaparral and it works fine. Been in for 3 years now, even done two Christams dinners in it with the help of something called the magic pan that I got from the Boat and caravan show. I think Tescos do the Sharp for about 50 quid and its silver.

I fitted a Panosonic Microwave/Grill into the space where
Bavaria factory fit option would go on my 300. Works well
but not cooked with the grill bit and its stainless steel finnish.
Dont have model no to hand but it cost about £70.00

Jez,
Buy a combi oven, Microwave, hot air & grill combination, we have a (even 2)
Deawoo KOC 624Q size is perfect for boat use Long 46CM, Heigh 28.5CM , Deep 43CM Stainless steel front, programmable...

You can use it for all things like at home, but smaller (fits our SS locker) SWMBO loves it.

Those small ones are not easy to find.

If you need more info PM me

Hi
I have fitted a Delonghi Combi in my 35ft Colvic. Microwave vented on the top left 1cm clerance of the vent and my wife uses it all the time because she cant cook to save her life.
£60 or £70 pounds in Argos i think. And in Stainless!

We installed a Sharp combi microwave/oven/grill when we re-did the galley two years ago.
Hasnt got a fantastic amount of room around it but we did put in a vent grille above it.
Has worked absolutely fine.
