I have a 16" microplus 501 and wanted to know if a short shaft outboard engine would suit? Also, what is the difference between a short/long shaft engine in size please?
Thanks in advance, Mark

Measure from the top edge of transom where motor hangs on, to keel. 20inch is long, 15 is short. 25 is XL. I'd be 90% sure your 501 is a longshaft

3 or for inches added to the leg of standard shaft is a long shaft. measure from the top of the transom to the back of the hull at the lowest point.

Rule 4 (b

“Lakesailoring” rules apply from the moment a second (different) person gives the essentially same answer as an earlier answer in the same thread. With a second similar or identical answer in the thread, the second chronological answer is “a lakesailor”, and that poster is “lakesailoring” the first responder with the same answer. The first responder is “being lakesailored” by the second (and subsequent) responders with that same answer."

If you are thanked by the original poster it becomes a Full Lakesailoring
