Just had the boat lifted out for anodes and pleased to say that after being in the water (hythe marina ) for some 10 months the hull was almost completely clean just a light slime over it so a big thumbs up for micron 350 , the mdl jetwasher took off a few patches however so not all good , maybe prime with primocon this year
The outdrive however was covered in those pesky coral worms so trilux 33 gets a big thumbs down on that

Im wondering if I gave the outdrive say two coats of acid etch primer (after cleaning off trilux ) and then the micron 350 would that be better solution

Been using it for 3 years and think it is probably the best at the moment.

By the end of first season a light scrub (by divers) was perfectly adequate, but by the following spring (month 20), the fouling was beginning to get the upper hand and whilst the divers rubbed it down again, the growth returned fairly quickly and I lifted it last summer for a refresh. So - I would say you almost get 2 years worth of protection (that is with 3 coats, as recommended) but not quite.

I thought Micron 350 was rubbish (in the Med)!
Here it is ( DIY job ) after about a year in the Med .Was hoping for 2 y .Won‘t be using it again .
I ended up paying a diver €300 to totally scrub the hull using a underwater jet wash thingy

Its now booked in May time @ the Marina yard Amico .

They use the little crane for tidlers , Quoted €2 K + tax so it’s a no brainier .That includes the sterngear with some AF , that they use on the SY s .Interesting to see the efficacy of that ? Tbh .

£2k for a lift out and full anti foul ?

Yes whole thing inc the stern gear . 2 coats they say after a power wash etc .
Anodes @cost with something like €40 to fit .They will send pics when it’s out , but I normally do them with dive gear , last done Sept ish ?
Cleaning and prepping and painting the stern gear is only €200 inside that €2K .I couldn’t buy suitable stuff for that and do not have to waste my life working out which stuff to apply or having to work out how to apply it on the props + rudders + flaps .

I guess they use 80 gallon drums looking at the other stuff in the yard ?
They put the small fry on a trolley and do them in a the shed as well .

So iam arranging my Guardian to take it round , dates booked 21 - 5

Tax on top .
Not this one but previous Italian yards I have turned up credit card in hand in the office to pay only to be told . -
“ There are two prices , this white price “ she presents the paper invoice + tax , slides it across the desk .

“Whats the other price “? I enquire ?
Without going into much detail you end up nipping into a bank and taking a cash withdrawal......It’s worth it ;).

I get 2 years between applications of Microm 350 so only liftout every other year although I do dry out on scrubbing posts 2 or 3 times each year to clean the prop (shaft drive) as I do not antifoul that. Some boatyards are over enthusiastic with their jetwashers!

That may be down to it being an ablative and Med boats sit for lengthy intervals between use. My boat sits in a river where there is a constant 3knt current and is as clean as a whistle. For ablatives without biocide to work properly I think frequent use is necessary.

That makes sense Bruce. To be honest, I've given up pretending I know more about the best a/f for my boat than the people in the yard who a) know what works best b) buy the stuff in 5 gallon drums.

I'd still recommend Velox to though.

We used up to Season 19 Venezani AF supplied by the yard , it was black .Worked well for a season .
May 19 after listening to the “ forum “ applauding ablative , conscious of already a thick layer build up over the years I thought I would give it punt .
We are experienced at putting it on boats out for few days inc hull polish + full engine service .
I chose Blue for obvious reasons to see where we have been over the existing black .
Two or more coats esp at the WL and bow area . Micron 350 ....it’s was more expensive , but if it lasted 2 seasons it’s cost effective.
If you see the images ^^^ theres no black showing through ? If it washed off I would have thought some black Venezani would show through?
Anyhow Covid closed the yards in lockdown 1 ,( May 20:) so I thought phew , I,am all right Jack with this super dooper forum bigged up AF ......er nope !
Lessons learnt
First as always use what the locals use , deviate at your peril
Second - take a lot on here with a pinch of salt :) .

Here it is with Venezani, for fast planing boats recommended by the French yard
