MF is having her bum done.

I was just carting stuff to the car when they told me. I've asked about the ten years of **** thats still on, before, but told it was not worth taking it off. OTOH They seem to be taking old stuff off loads of boats.

So when I bought MF, all anti fouling had been taken off, thats 10-11 yeaars ago.

I could get about 24 knots out of her, but cruised about 22. Now she's down to about 18 knots flat out.
The engines seem to be giving all I ask, yet not to full revs. but I know that if I have not got a clean bottom, I will never have full rev's

I'd have thought that, even at 18kts most of the old A/F would erode away. I reckon you might be putting it on too often & too thick if you are getting a build up.

Sea Rush gets a thin coat every other year (whether she needs it or not ) but then, I am working to a tight budget & moor in a brackish river mouth so fouling is pretty light anyway. But my point is, she only gets a fresh coat when most of the old stuff has eroded. But I travel at 4-5kts mostly so a soft A/F is perfect, at 18-20kts it might not last a single trip to PD!
