This little port is owned and managed by its own fishermen's co-op. Fresh fish is landed right onto their market at West Wharf.....

....from where much of their VERY FRESH catch is hauled off to a 'consolidator' at Brixham. Most of the VERY FRESH rest goes, I'm told, to supply busy nearby restaurants.

On several visits, I've been very pleased with the Portuguese restaurant 'Judes', in the NW corner of the harbour close to the famous Fountain Inn. Their cooking and their prices have left us well pleased.

I can't say the same for this one, on the SW corner of the harbourside, where Milady and two lady friends on a break-away dined last evening....

Each of them had a fish dish. One sent back her food; the other two were physically sick as parrots by the time they got back to their apartment in nearby Heligan House. And...and...and.... there was apparently quite a wrangle over 'blatent overcharging' on the bill.

We often visit Meva. We eat at the Blue Bistro in Church St. A small place run by two sisters with excellent food at reasonable prices.

For anyone visiting this month, be aware the Meva Male Choir do a free concert on the quay in the inner harbour at 7.45 every Monday during August. We love it.

Yes. We bought the CD ( charity ) from 'em last year..... and 'afterwards in the Fountain Inn'. Akshully, get there first - during the last song - to get your drinks order in, and a seat, 'cos it will be next to impossible once the 'crew' and families arrive.
