Deployed today, equipment and frame was located on the seabed north-west of the Bench Head SHB. Mark is a yellow special buoy with X top and is lit Fl(5).Y.20s. Deployment will be there for about 30 days. Image is copyright and courtesy of the UKHO.

While on, some of you may remember we wrote to the UKHO suggesting that there was a rock ledge east of the larger drying area of the Knoll. Note the line of soundings: 0.7, 0.5, 0.3, 0.1, 0.1, 0, 0.4 east of the Knoll. After consideration the UKHO concluded that there was certainly a 'feature' there but was insufficient evidence to confirm it as a rock ledge. Principle evidence against a rock ledge is that an old survey (pre-2000) suggested the feature was slightly to the west. Even rock doesn't move! If resources become available (unlikely) they would investigate. We might see if we can find more evidence this spring. I suggested to Gladys that I could hang him over the side at LWS and he could paddle with bare feet but he didn't answer.
Gladys and I have noted that some peeps do set up a straight course from the Spitway to mid-entrance of the Blackwater and cut inside the NW Knoll PHB right over that 'feature'. Please bear in mind the height of tide. Whatever, it is hard.
