Some here may be aware that our company are sponsoring the Metmasts.ie Turbines Yacht Race run by Arklow Sailing Club on Sunday 31st May.

See: http://www.sailingclub.ie/forums/sailing...yacht-race.html

We are testing the yacht trackers just now. Here is a live (nearly) pic taken from East of the Arklow Bank Windfarm this evening.

Tracking going well with 99.98% coverage so far /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Father Dougal,
Would you care to elaborate on what tracking you do with your masts? Do they track all shipping in the area of the Arklow Banks (with a view to telling them they are getting a bit too close), or have you set up something specific for this race?
David.

Hi David,

We have commissioned a UK company Concepts Online to provide live tracking of the yachts during the race so that our clients can keep an eye on the event from the comfort of the bar /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is the result - track log...

Hi all,

Just a quick update on the event.

We had 15 entries in the end and a good time was had by all.

Unfortunately the wind died down to nothing on the morning of the race and after delaying the start by an hour the decision was made to run a shortened course instead. ASC kept ourselves informed at all times which was very appreciative.

We let them get on with the race as we had guests to look after for the day. Of course the flip side was that our corporate guests were very happy that we had laid on brilliant sunshine along with the ASC catering, music and a wee drink or two.

All in all we are very pleased with our first step into event sponshorship as the event exceeded our expectations in most areas and we are already looking forward to 2010.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank ASC, DMG Sailsports, Concepts Online, Astins Yacht Trophies and the Metmasts crew who made themselves available to look after our valued clients.

We are sifting through 600+ images just now and we will upload a selection soonest. Full results will be available on ASC website but I can confirm that the main trophy was won by "Aqualina" from ASC.

Regards,
Metmasts.ie
