There have been numerous 'spats' in these forums in which the Met Office's unhealthy and unhelpful habit of secrecy with data has been criticised.

Disagreements over the cost and worth of the Maritime Safety Information Broadcasts is a case in point.

Now it seems that the rest of us may soon have access to the records on which they base much of their prognostications, and without which we can't challenge their claimed accuracy and 'Value For Money'.

Maybe, just maybe, there's a hint of a clearance showing through the murk - and maybe, just maybe, the prospect of rather less PR and spin.... :rolleyes:
