Merry Fisher swim platform strength?

Have you asked the manufacturer? Would be interesting to see what they say. GRP is not terribly stiff but you will get a lot of movement before it gets anywhere close to failing.

Thanks for the photo Chris. Hopefully mine should look similar when its done.

Gordmac, I have sent an email to them but as of yet no reply. The current arrangement looks fairly solid as hopefully you can see in the photos if Ive attached them correctly.20171210_133946.jpg20171210_133942.jpg

That looks a well attached swim platform, as well as a row of bolts there is a high and low bolt at each end. Any flexing is probably the transom

Umm, ok had not thought of that. So if its the transom flexing I guess theres not much I can do about it? But then I probably would not need to reinforce that part?
I have to admit I can only see the platform move down. The transom does not appear to move. But maybe I have that wrong then?
Thanks Bouba

I have never come across a flexing transom before. I'd be quite concerned if that happened on any boat of mine.

The transom on our 805 definitely doesn't flex. If you copy the supports under the platform in the photo but on top of the platform none of your fixings will be below the water line . Maybe a bit of a quicker pitch than those underneath though. Still possible while afloat this way. Platform would be a solid as a rock then but would be awkward if you moor on a pontoon and like to step onto the platform from the side.
Just sayin

Just come back from the boat - Im confident its not the transom flexing. The boat can easily come out onto the hard for fitting the new supports or the eye bolts. Just need to decide the best way forward for me. Contacting a fabricator tomorrow to discuss supports and ladder build options :encouragement:
