What do you do with the wooden bits outside, Do you treat them with anything?

Mine look like they could do with a gentle rub. Down but then what?

The wood on my 805 looks like it is varnished. I would have thought a rub down then a couple of coats of marine varnish would do the trick. As far as I remember the wooden bits are the strips on top of the gunwhales, the steps to the cabin roof and the swim step cover...

Mine was done in Sadolin by a previous owner. Not very nautical.

I thought OK, when that starts to flake off I'll re-do it with teak oil or varnish. It hasn't started to deteriorate yet, three years on. Maybe it is the right stuff after all......

Our 805 that we used to have was to starting to flake off so
I rubbed it back & left natural looking.
A nice contrast to the blinging white grp !

On our 705, I tried teak oil, but can't say it made much difference other than getting crud on the GRP surrounding the wood. She has just gone off for part-ex, and I found they cleaned up very well with a pressure washer!

Thanks Peeps, might try the pressure washer first.

I had a MF625 a few years ago from new and was told at the time that the wood doesn't need treating so maybe it can be left alone if cleaned up well.

I'm on my 3rd MF: Rub down with sandpaper. Tried teak oil once and it went horrible black.

Please don't use a pressure washer on teak - guaranteed to ruin it for good. Plenty of threads on here about looking after teak. We never treated ours.

I used to leave mine alone, occasional scrub across the grain with sea water.
