Merry Fisher 855 Head System

Considering 855 but concerned about head system. Previous boat had vacuum flush with macerator at back of stern that worked well with brief odors after flushing at back of boat. With 855 the holding tank is located mid section close to V and Aft berths plus no macerator. To those who use their head systems on the 855 with gravity drainage are there any functional problems? Odor problems? Thx

We have the same system on our MF 695 and while we haven't used it in anger over the last year (first season with the boat) it hasn't had any issues and seems to work fine.. I also asked about a macerator when I was looking at the boat and was told the gravity system is what a lot of sail boats use so it appears to be a well used system..

Gravity systems work well. Just don't leave a lot of soil in for extended periods. Empty regularly and flush through with clean water from time to time. Smells usually come from poor venting or more common from poor pipework. Expect a newish boat to have butyl sanitary grade hose which reduces possible smells.
