As an old fart of 80 I have experience of heavy semi-displacement boats but am now thinking my long distance cruising days are probably over but I still want a little fun boat to potter around the Solent and catch some fish fer me dinner. Don't think I want anything too tiny but perhaps 25-30 ft light planing boat perhaps. Like the look of the MF 805. With a single diesel of around 200HP I am assuming that the most economical speed would be the minimum that would maintain it up on the plane? What would that likely be? Around 15knots perhaps? And what sort of fuel consumption would that likely give I wonder?

I used to have an MF805 with the Nanni 200hp engine (3L Toyota).

I found the most economic speed (apart from displacement speed of 4-5 kts) was about 400/500 RPM less then WOT. Depends on tide etc, but around 18 knots and 25lts per hour.

A nice boat.

The 805 is a semi D rather than planing hull. 6/7 knots or about 16/17 for best economy. Good boats!
