Merry Fisher 805

<snip>

The teething troubles are really, in my mind a good thing as I said before. It is the best way of familiarising yourself with a boat!

Your boat looks great! Have you had her long?

Cheers

Craig

We had a couple of teething problems when we first bought her, nothing serious. Have had a couple of minor things go wrong since. I've also done a few updates and additions, all of which have given me some knowledge of the boat. We bought her in Nov 98 with 149 hours on the clock and are very, very happy with her. Big enough for four people to spend a few days on, practical enough to go fishing on (sits very well at anchor too) and economical enough that we've put over 200 hours on her in 18 months and i still have both kidneys.

and i still have both kidneys.
:D

Oh
I just remembered

A bunch of us legged it across from Anglesey to the IOM a couple of years ago
2 805's amongst us
Anyway.
During the return trip it did cut up a bit choppy
I noticed one of the 805's slowing down, about half a mile of me starboard side.

So I radiod across to the slowing vessel
'Shy Talk' Shy Talk' (no I made that up to protect said peeps!) are you ok, over'

'BRIZA , this is Shy Talk, yer everythin ok but swmbo needs the heads, over':D

Didn't dawn on me, well Us Lads can brace ourselves or use a bucket.

But Shy Talks swmbo was quite tall
Imagine the piccy
2 .1/2 metre swell on the starboard quarter and His swmbo trying to use the heads at 16 kts:D

Fair play
The 805's showed there worth that day.

LoL Kawasaki!

So they are certainly up to the job then :)

It says in the book that they can cope with a maximum of 4m high waves in a F8 - Sorry but an experience I'd rather not enjoy as I can see Mr Cramps mob and bucket being employed for a slightly different activity!

My last boat the 625 I bought from new and in 5 years she only clocked up 240 hours! That is mostly because all I ever did was head out and fish all day! We intend to clock up a few hours on this one as she makes cruising enjoyable! The 625 felt like a tin can in a washing machine with anything over a slight sea state!

Mine says that too (obviously), not sure who's going to be onboard, certainly won't be me, if i can help it. Did get caught in The Wash last year in some 8 feet waves, she handled those with ease. We were at anchor when it whipped up very quickly, sitting on the bow retrieving the anchor, watching the waves approach was erm, shall we say "interesting".

Had many good times on my 625 to be honest; but often found myself "Steaming" at 8 knots to get back to Chichester harbour from the Nab when it got lumpy. On a smooth day she couldn't be beaten as a fast fisher. We did a few trips on her, made curtains and have to say that she was a fun boat to sleep on!!

managed to get all the oil (apart from a very fine smear) from the bilges, there was nowhere near as much in there as I had suspected. Just need to get in there and give it a clean now. Gas moniter fitted fore cabin and beneath the sink and the trim tab issue isolated to the actual HPU box! Managed to put the Trim Tabs to 0 both sides (By swapping the hydraulic feeds over) and the difference is amazing. My boat is much quicker and doesn't bury the bow into the waves anymore, but cuts through them a treat! Will get them fixed though as I noticed a slight list to port having just filled the fuel tank and with the family seated on that side.

Hope you are all well!

Craig
