Hi all
This is my first post so be gentle, I am considering buying a 2007 Jeanneau Merry fisher 625 without an outboard,
I have a 2001 135hp mercury saltwater optimax with very low hours to fit to this boat, but all the other boats for sale have a maximum 115hp fitted, what would be the implications of fitting a 135hp to this boat and are there any upgrades/improvements I could do to make fitting this engine this possible.

You would need to check if your insurance company would be ok with it.

Your actual performance will be the same - give and take a few percent.
If your insurance has a problem rebadge the engine...

If the 135 is the same weight or less than the 115 do it. If its heavier then I wouldnt do it.

Not at all. Transoms are very strong indeed, designed to take the stress in any direction while bouncing around on waves at full thrust or on a trailer on roads of all kinds.

Numerous boats have been overpowered without issues, some even with a kicker next to the main engine.

Its not power but waeight you have to worry about. The transom will have a maximum weight of motor it can take. Check your owners hand book or the manufacturer data sheet. How ever if is only 6kgs id be inclined not to worry about it and fit the 135hp.

Its not the additional power thats the issue its the weight. Check the owners guide or manufactures spec sheet and you will see there is a maximum weight limit. If its only 6kgs I wouldnt worry about it and get it fitted.
