As per the title, are the 240v electric points on mermaid quay in Cardiff barrage in use now? When i visited last year i noticed the electric points were a new addition to mermaid quay, but they werent in use. Just wondereing if they are now up and running, and what the process is for using them, do you have to purchase prepaid cards for example?

Thanks in advance for any info.

they're not hooked up as far as I know, i was under the impression they were never planning on completing the shore power!

I believe the bollards were installed originally for Harbour Authority events (many years ago) with an additional plan of selling electric cards like in Bristol and other marinas. Do to misuse and people trying to bypass the card system they were switched off and are only used for events.

Not all boaters can be trusted and they spoil it for the rest of us.
pity because it would be nice also a toilet for boaters would be good for the price they charge for 24 hour.

How come Bristol floating harbour as usable electric posts, that are not interfered with but not Mermaid quay? Hmmm... sounds like it's simply not worth the effort? Shame. Is that why the quay is often empty?

I think it was only ment to be short term boat parking,
Last year it was £2 per hour and £24 per 24 hours that was for no drinking water, no toilets, no electric, thats why i think it's only short stay.
