Just aquired a nice second hand Mercury 2.5hp 2 stroke mercury for my tender but the previous owner cannot find the service manual.

Could anyone help me out with a copy please. I need oil specs and service routines.

Thanks guys

Dave

You should be able to down load a copy of the owners manual from the "Download Center" at http://www.brunswickmarineemea.com/;jsessionid=7o5g5fq4hog05

There is a year identifier on the site as well which should enable you to determine the year of manufacture.
I find the one at http://www.storesonline.com/site/573683/page/599222 easier to use though!

It will run on a 50:1 fuel mix and I'd use 50:1 even if I subsequently found the book says 100:1.The Oil for the fuel will be any TCW-3 2 stroke outboard engine oil. You'll find Quicksilver in most chandleries.

The gear case oil will be any high viscosity ( approx sae 80w-90) outboard gear oil. (Automotive oils do not contain the emulsifiers and corrosion inhibitors the guard against the effects of any sea water ingress) If the old oil does not drain out "clear and bright" it is sign that there is water in it. The cause should be investigated and rectified.

Not a lot about small engines but as it is new to you and you perhaps don't know much of its service history you might like to read http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086
