My mercruiser bravo Trim sender has failed and i only replaced just over a year ago so it is now out of the 1 warrant . I took it apart to see if i could repair the sender but basically i can not as there is a round disk that has a copper contacts on it that has failed. Does any one have and old sender kicking around that they would like to sell as i don,t want have to replace the hole thing again if i can just change the disk with the contacts on.

Sorry, can't help you with your specific request.
But if you'll manage to repair the sender, I'd suggest to keep a link to this thread, because you're very likely to use it again regularly in the future.

There's a reason why in all installations where it's important to have a reliable trim indicator the following mechanical setup is used.
In the first pic you see the small steel piston attached to the stbd hydraulic piston of the drive (forget the upper Latham marine thing, that's the hydraulic steering, which has nothing to see with the trim. And btw, the drive is labelled Merc Racing because it's the XR version, but externally both the standard Bravo and the Bravo X are exactly the same, and you can fit the mechanical indicator exactly in the same way).
The cable pushed/pulled by the steel piston reaches the helm, and gives the extremely accurate and reliable indication that you can see in the second pic.
I understand it isn't a trivial add-on to install, but the choice is between fitting this and forget it, or rely on the electric sender and be prepared to replace it regularly - pick your poison! :)

Thanks for the info but looks like going to be replace the senders regularly but i will try genuine instead of copy and see if they last any longer than 12 months

If it makes you feel any better (probably not) on my old boat the Volvo ones went. Volvo surprise surprise have an " upgraded part" = they seem to have a lot of those!

If just out of warranty write to them - they may give you a goodwill replacement.

J, are you reporting your experience with VP just for comparison, or are you actually suggesting that their trim sender is compatible with Merc?
Just curious, because I never heard of that - and I have a couple of friends who might be interested to know.
