Mercruiser Alpha One gear oil

Which oil I have to use for Mercruiser Alpha One year 1997,because I am in Eastern Europe and can't find original Mercruiser oil.Can I use some automative gear oil.

I have had a quick skim through the workshop manual, but it only refers to the Quicksilver lube. I suggest you try to contact a specialist like Tom at www.tompamarine.co.uk

Tom is really helpful, and knows the Alpha One really well.

I know plenty of people that use Castrol SAF-XO - Years later and no problems!

The good thing about specific Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube is the fact that it will still work and prevent damage to your leg even if water gets in. Its saved my gears a couple of times when I have picked up fishing line that has damaged the prop seal.

Can you not order it online ?

If you're looking for any sort of technical suggestions on MoBo stuff, this is the right place.
