Im glad I stood up to Mercruiser/Brunswick/Cummins as it proves you dont have to just bend over and take it !!!
I dont work for cummins or any marine related company.
You are angry with several companies but the one that helped you out get the mucky end of the stick .
Cummins have had a fantastic support net work and customer relations have an excellent reputation .
The way I understand the relationship was that Mercruiser approached cummins in order to benefit from their excellent customer relations and support net work.
It would appear that a mercruiser dealer or brunswick have let you down, cummins have sorted it out despite not being involved in your sale and yet you still call them evil
I prefer not to tell you my company as to be honest I could do without customers like you.
The dealings I have had with them have been incredibly generous.
Wetspot says he had a warranty with the mercruiser dealer that sold him the parts . He goes on to say cummins solved the problem but he calls cummins eveil, he seems to have lost sight of just who he has been dealing with.
Many mercruiser agents lost the dealership when cummins took over, this was due to many mercruiser agents simply didnt have a firm grasp of the diesel range , obviously some agents did and were reappointed cummins agents.
Other mercruiser agents were aloud to retain mercury agencies where they could sell outboards up to 10 hp, some still advertised as mercruiser agents but were very capable of the cockup wetspot endured.
It would be very interesting to know just who the supposed mercruiser agent was, I bet they dont feature on the cummins website as authorised !
Further I deduce Mercruiser sold this engine, replaced it under warranty, then it would have to undergo quarantine where it sits at the back of a workshop and if no one claims or mentions the salvage again the mercruiser dealer can re sell the broken engine for salvage, I remember a post on here or perhaps a USA boat diesel forum where someone was asking why a 250 ecu was cheaper than a 300 ecu when they were the same.
I believe wetspot is right to be angry at someone but suspect the culprit who put the box of pup parts together would be a better target than cummins .
