Hi
I am hoping someone out there may me able to help me, I have a Birchwood 33 with Ford Deisel 240 series 4 cylinder 80HP engines which have been marinised by Mercraft.
I am having duifficulty in trying to obtain manuals for the engine, Broom installed the Mercraft Ford Deisels in their boats as well but they may be the 6 cylinder 105hp enigines.
Would anyone know of a agent/shop where I could buy a manual or website where I could download a one.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers Mark

I am the last person that should be answering this as I am an absolute Klutz around engines. I was past the age of 40 before I found out that Diesels don't use spark plugs.

However. . . I believe that engine may be based on the one they used in Transit Vans. If this be the case then this site sells handbooks http://www.shopadilly.co.uk/Products/ford handbooks?tid=5336493029

This of course will not cover the marinisation of that engine.

Mercraft was the marine division of Ford. They packed in when Sabre, lehman and Lancing got in on the act.

I suspect someone like Lancing is your best bet as they may know if Mercraft
used different liners and pistons etc . IE Sabre did a lot of engineering on some Ford engines and you could run into problems fitting garage parts.

Lancing will also know about the add on bits like heat exchangers.

Any Ford based marine engine would be cheap and simply marinised by changing manifolds in my experience.

A few photos should be able to be posted to a classic ford forum for confirmation!
