Hi,

I'm replacing my old BMC 1.5 diesel with a Mercedes I rescued from a scrapped boat. The engine (probably from a Unimog) must have been reconditioned as it has high compression (21 - 22 atmospheres in all four cylinders). The gearbox is from Newage. It looks like a PRM 100 or similar. Here are some images:

Many thanks to those here who helped identify the gearbox. I have ordered new seals from ASAP as it was full of an emulsion of ATF and water which was leaking out of numerous places. Both the engine and gearbox had been semi-submerged in bilge water for about two years. As it's hydraulic, I assume I'll have to wait until it's refitted on the running engine to test its functionality.

The engine & gearbox cost 500 euro with a guarantee that it runs. I've now got work to do, but this is looking good right now.

Fair winds.

I just finished replacing the 2 seals and lots of o-rings in my PRM 175. I went to my local bearing supplier much cheaper than ASPS.

The gearbox does not ATF it uses normal engine oil, I am using SAE 30 grade.
