Has anyone tried cutting a standard (home) memory foam topper to fit a V berth? Various companies make them to fit boats, but the prices seem to be at least double the cost of a standard one for a bed.

At present my berth is made up of three cushions that fit together to fill the V, but these shift about during the night and become uncomfortable, so I thought a memory foam topper might be the answer.

An electric carving knife makes short work on shaping a memory foam from ikea for the bow cabin but it does raise the berth height if placed on top of the standard cushions and the foam seems to make the berth hotter in warm weather which might be a downside if summer arrives.

We had a new mattress made last year, taking the original as a template, with a mem foam upper section. It is brilliant!

This is something I've been considering, who did you use for use & would you recommend them/use them again? I don't really want to add to the height of the mattresses so a topper prob isn't the way forward for me - though perhaps should try it on one as an experiment...

I had the foam cut by a local shop, Jordan's in Leamington Spa, and the mattress cover made by a young lady who does canal boat upholstery. Both were brilliant. Quality fantastic. I used the original as a template, traced onto brown paper. Worked a treat. Cost about £400 iirc.
