Don't Panic - heard on the VHF when it caught fire, soon put out and Coastguard couldn't resist it.

I had that painted on the underside of my Scorpion dinghy, in the same ' large friendly & comforting ' font as ' The Hitchikers' Guide To the Galaxy ' which used this as a motto.

When we deliberately capsized by the slip one day to do a mandatory buoyancy test, a chap came running forward.

No, the **** wasn't coming to help, he was waving a camera.

I took the hint and became a photographer.

Is that in Ipswich? We've been on that boat if it is. A really nice couple own it. We rafted against them and ended up drinking lots of wine with them. If so it's a Gitana 43! It's a really nice boat.

Yes... I was down looking at a really disapointing Jeanie at the time and went to see that one whilst I was there. Lovely yacht, really interesting layout inside.

The owner (name escapes me) offered for me to sleep at his house that night as I'd driven from the North but I decided to camp instead near the sea. Really nice bloke and I hope most boat owners are so endearing.

Well,

I had a Zodiac tender called 'Steve'; ( you have to remember Fireball XL5 ) and another called 'The Beer Hunter', I must say rowing ashore in that, even against a strong tide was much more enjoyable than the film of a similar name...:)

There was a boat in the Ionian called 'Thanks Dad' which made me smile and one in N Wales called Zandav which always made me think of a toilet cleaner....

That belonged to a friend of mine, and it was purchased with her father's inheritance.

A large yacht belonging to the head of a well-known PR firm "Merci Béré" after Bérégovoy the Minister of Finance brought in a law allowing the 100% write-off of cost against income.

THE BEST

!!!!!!!!!!!!---MISS GOOD BODY---!!!!!!!!!!!!1

WHY?

Oh well every time it visited the Caribbean and the Bahama's in the 80's it had not just hot chicks but Hot chicks that worked in the Top 30 Gentleman Clubs around the USA so you can imagine the stir it caused when visiting marina and anchorages.

The Captain who ran it is a good friend of mine who I have sailed with on many occasions. He said that it had such a reputation in the 80's 90's that when a marina was full and no one could get in. He would get on the radio and say "This is 'Miss Good Body' requesting a berth for the night" and would get a call back saying that something had been made available with 4 deck hands on the dock waiting to give assistance. On one occasion someone was actually asked to move.

Brilliant! Although I wish it was my story and not his :-(

Now that's a name worth having in the 21st Century but I do not think a yacht forum such as YBW.com has the members who could launch such a vessel. Although the Owner was happily married and would come on the Cat with his top girls and of course his wife.

Years ago I worked for a property developer in Ireland, this guy owned a light aeroplane but due to his bad speach impedament and habit of not refueling and making neumerous emergency landings he lost his pilots licence mainly because of his "HAY DAY, HAY DAY, HAY DAY" calls.
It was a standing joke among the locals.
A few years ago when I bought HB and was driving into Kip marina I spotted a little red boat on the hard and just burst out laughing.
It was called "HAY DAY".
Brought back memories.:D
