Whilst I appreciate that this is the Thames forum, I know that many Medway users come here. We are going to be spending five weekends down on the Medway during July / August and wondered if some suggestions for overnight moorings and Anchorage places might be forthcoming.

Many thanks

Aha an adventurous soul at last.
Your first port of call will be here The Medway.
Lots of details and pictures on all the moorings/locks/facilities including some very nifty PDFs of bridge profiles and navigation maps. One place probably not mentioned will be a couple of fields(1 mile to nearset pub/civilisation) available to boaters near Golden Green.

One quick advisory,July 25th is the date of the
Maidstone River Festival and lots of stuff will be on the move(200-300 boats)so join in or avoid, your choice.
Can give you any info you like regards the trip round the tidal bit (only if you need it of course)
Only thing to consider is your airdraft some of the bridges on the upper stretches are low.ie Windsor would be regarded as very high round these parts.
Need to know anything else, just ask.
Ps You should get 14 days ? "free" entry on our bit of the river as you are registered on the Thames.
PPs Remember to bring you lock handle...no hordes of tame lockies to kiss you better and to keep you out of trouble and definately no electric gates /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks old git. Sorry I should have explained better but two years ago we came to the Medway and went all the way up to Tonbridge and had a great time. This year we have booked a mooring in Chatham for a month and want to explore the tidal area in and around the Medway. We will be doing a Swale island trip and one to moor overnight in Stangate creek but other overnight suggestions would be appreciated.

the swale itself has a couple of anchorages, just outside of conyer, also you can pick a buoy at harty ferry ,or anchor.also the landing stage at queenborough check not already booked before going. hope that helps.

A diversion to the windmills off of Whitstable and the Maunsell Forts on your journey round the exoctic Isle of Sheep might be worthwhile.Plus keep an eye out for the seals on Horse Shoal as you go by.
However would recommend the trip up to Maidstone for the festival as they have free parking and some really neat fireworks at the end of the evening.
If you spend any time in the MDL marina at Chatham the Historic Dockyard next door is worth a half a day and there are some decent pubs just across the river in Upper and Lower Upnor.
