This is Tug XXXX.We have abandoned the rescue and the furniture is heading downstream with the tide. Bodies we can recover,sofas are something else.

Coming back from a quick trip out on Sunday,something went through the props made terrible noise and vibration plus nearly stalled one of the engines.
After a quick go astern to clear any junk and a quick WOT ahead to check for vibration,firmly convinced it was something enormous.
Summoned up the courage to go back and look.
What was left, appeared to be a rather ordinary polythene clothes washing basket,well minced up but still recognisable.
Wondering if houseboat had sunk further upstream ?

This reminds of an interesting hour or so listening to Kent Police on a SW radio when I was teenager. It had been reported that there was a fridge on the M2. Ten minutes later it was reported that a cooker had been been seen on the M2. All hell broke loose. It turned out that they had fallen off a scrap lorry. Very entertaining unless you were driving on the M2.
