Medway to Tower bridge - video

Thanks for that , i really enjoyed it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I've only been as far as the dome but wish i had pushed on a bit now .

I wanted it to be a celebration of the Thames and its tides.

And you people know about the tides. I was too frightened to go beyond Tower Bridge. But two years ago I did Lechlade to Marlow in my little trailer sailer - mast down most of the way... 2.2hp puttering away. The rest I have done on a combination of party boats and river trips.

There is a website of a bloke who took his canal boat up the river that goes into Dartford Creek.

Now there is a man with guts - dealing with those washes and tides in a canal boat on his way to and from the creek - creeping up knowing that the bottom is full of half sunken debris.

Re the Tuesday Night Club, that was a fairly easy trip. When we came out of Sheerness & headed north east to the Blackwater, when the owner (Neil) didn't realise until it was too late, that a bit more interesting!

Superb..............
Real boats and real boating on the best bit of the coast.

Fab.
I have some idea how much effort it takes to make a production like that. Many thanks for sharing with us.

Actually "where no narrowboat has gone before" is spot on; Neil, the owner, always wants to go where Chris Coburn in NB Progress coudn't get to, ie the Chelmer & Blackwater canal because 70' Progress couldn't get in the locks, Earnest could just about on the angle.

I don't know if the website is still around, but the Nb Ocean Princess went much further, one year Thames/South Coast/Lands End/Severn/K & A, next year out of Liverpool & N Ireland & then West Coast of Scotland.

Superb videos Dylan. I really enjoyed your commentary - you have missed your calling evidently! Thank you for sharing them.

I look forward to making the passage in reverse from Chiswick before the end of the Summer.
