On the news this morning.

I thought that this was some kind of variation of ObamaCare or Medivac or something ..... maybe a replacement for the NHS .... but no, it's apparently short for Mediterranean Hurricane. Who knew? :o

Hurricane or not , it's been bad , boats sunken in Lefkas lot of damage boats else where ,
We had winds around the 40 kts ,
Manage to fine a small window this morning to sail 25 miles for another bolt hole although it looks like it pass are area now just waiting to see what comes next .
so much talk on the internet if it's a cyclone or a Hurricane, for us who been caught up in it , it doesn't make much different what it's call , if bloody bad ,
You have to feel sorry for people who lost everything as their boat sink .

Here on Kythera (our first land holiday in years: First mate was fed up of the wind and rain you get on a boat in the english channel*) the medicane which is currently passing just to the north is considerably less than forecast by the more pessimistic models and actually significantly less than the howling meltemi we've had from the opposite direction over the past few days.

(*I hear the weather in the channel islands this week has been delightful. Not that I'm bitter...)

I’m not totally sure she’s a fully qualified meteorologist but I would have trouble convincing my wife that I was watching her every day for the forecast........!

It has been discussed on these forums before. The results were, predictably, similar to your 'Ive not heard of it therefore no one else has' reaction.

Whatever, Im hoping for a decent spell in around 10 or 12 days to get a boat from Croatia to Gib. I rather imagine a fair size quantity of diesel will be expended, plus some scary bits.

Im sure Neptune will provide suitable entertainment for us.
