Med - teak Vs fake teak ??

It depends.
If the b/p is made in such way that teak is a selectable option, it has to be designed to be fine also without it (no recesses left, proper micro-diamonds gelcoat finishing).
This is what I assumed in my previous post, but I'm not sure if it's the case with NGM's boat.

I do agree that where there's a tender that sits on the b/p, teak is rather pointless as it can only partly be seen and will of course fade and weather differently where it's exposed or not. That being said, a small section of teak to the rear of any cockpit gate would look good (IMO).

teak cockpit and platform is standard and no option to remove
Then just forget my previous suggestion altogether! :)

Actually, 'fiuaskme, I'd rather not have the teak there even if FoC.
But the problem is that when the b/f is designed with a recess for teak, usually it also doesn't have the diamonds gelcoat underneath.
So, you can as well use the teak the boat comes with (till it lasts), and decide later if you'd like to try any alternative... :encouragement:

I think on bathing platforms you really ought to have solid planks / lats on a stainless steel frame .So maintenance free going forwards .This is 16 years old and looks like it could do another 16 ?
Honey colour is just cosmetic and with a bit of time n graft easy to do .
Teak does feel nice underfoot and to sit on ,and woods great for clambering on / off from the tender -- it does not chip or scratch .I would not want a plastic only bathing platform in the med .
Noticed Sunseeker on the newer bigger boats adopting solid planks / lats on the movable part ( bit that gets dunked ) on Hi Lo platforms .

I cringe a bit when I see other boats with the industry standard veneered sheets dropping the BP into the sea and leaving it submerged ,while they mess about ,just thinking where that seawater will find its way between the various layers of glue , ply , ( ply layers too ) glue ,veneer , caulk etc , and wonder what effect has on the life expectancy ??
Just seems a silly way of approaching it , that the majority of boat buying public accept .
