Med Style Mooring Single-Handed...

When Single handed in a marina with lazy lines: I found that the best way was to rig a mid ships line, and come along side the next door boat, tie off on him, whilst you sort your lines out...

Another way is to again ignore the lazy lines, get two stern lines on (tied off on the shore if possible, not looped back) and motor against them. Now fit lazy lines at your leisure. It is worth learning the local language for: "Drop that line and tie this one with a bowline"!

Thats how I prefer to do it, but how to communicate it with the people ashore? - especially Bepe(?) at Spartahori - you have to tell him to shut up (nicely) and he still does not! I just tell the crew to get on with it and ignore shore help!

I think that the OP question has been answered pretty well and I use and would recommend the nigelmercier method.

One thing I would add though wear industrial type gloves when handling lazy lines most are covered in barnacles and shells and will seriously cut your hands if you don't.
