Med storm

Sorry to see this. At least there doesn't seem to be large swells in the harbor to slam you against the other boat.

And you have a good collection of fenders to take the worst of it.

Good luck.
Thanks Mac, the rivers are swollen and we are on flood alert. But I think we are past the worst of it (touch wood). It also seems to have affected my ability to post decent photos :(

Ouch. So you never managed to sort your issues. :(

When I get my new hydraulic passerelle I’ll be able to park a little further out. Unfortunately I’m supposed to go to Bandol for the installation next week but the forecast is looking bad.

+1. Hopefully no damage to your boat. How much higher than normal is the sea?

In port the water is about a meter higher. The waves coming into port are about 2.5 meters and the rivers are a good two or three meters higher than 24 hours ago.
Things maybe subsiding, the wind is now calm (it was storm force with very strong gusts) I think the river is going down but the breaking waves are still big

Deleted User, mole sud is all fine. Wind was on port quarter but not as strong as in bouba land. There was heck of a lot of rain. Hope your house drains well.

I can see my boat any time via web cams
Wow, nice view indeed. :encouragement:

As an aside, am I correct in seeing that your stbd bow line (the black one) is rubbing against the deck border, since there is no fairlead in that position?
If so, just FYI, I saw a boat moored in a similar way whose deck gelcoat had been ruined by the line.
I don't know exactly for how long she was moored like that - probably for some years in a row, and the marina more exposed than Loano. But the result was very bad.
Now, I can see why you might dislike the idea of fitting a fairlead in that position, but if you are thinking to leave her in that berth for some time, I would consider at least a s/steel low profile rubbing strake.
Not a thing of beauty arguably, but better than damaged gelcoat, and most importantly not dangerous for bare feet (as a fairlead would be).

Yes it’s just a bit of luck there’s one of the 4 cameras on the marina web page centred on my boat ......Handy .
Yup it did occur to me the potential gel rub .
They don’t do bow lines ( first for me in the Med ) and the fingers are a new thing .
It’s great to access the sides , in fact we just jump on / off the bow to the finger .....no guard rails facilitate this .To access the other side just enter temporarily bow first .
So it will come as no surprise the stainless steel window port holes are now quite highly polished. Also obviously the hull sides get a proper hull rinse with fresh water fwiw ?

So the bow black line is actually deliberately loose at the mo .
Any rearwards movement is controlled by the mid cleat lines to the finger .
There’s a black boat line fig 8 d in the usual way and second white hoop line , hooped over as a back up .
When we leave we undo the black lines and bring them aboard , the white hoops are chucked on the finger , and the stern lines as per Med mooring chucked on the jetty .
On return the Admiral just hooks the white hoop and pops it on the mid cleat first .
Thus we can’t go any further back and whack the jetty .
Sort of figured it out in the first week or so .

I,ll be down there this Friday for the day so will check up on the lines etc .

As far as long term plans go ......well so far there’s nothing negative turned up .So it’s making the final decision v difficult wether to rtn to the Code D Azur in Sept 2021 or flog my berth there and do something else with the cash € s .Additionally we have property cooking nicely on the Antibes real estate market .So we may disinvest in Fr and transfer assets to IT , if we still feel post brexit we want exposure in EU land properties.
Could end up with Hol home ( less than 6/12 time for the hol resident IT tax exemption status ) in Tuscany and boat moved further down Elba way ? Or a farm in Piedmont twist CH and Loano .Thats why I enquired about travel to Sardinia .
We all will be able to see how the political landscape develops next year , hopefully by sept 2021 the year after we should have a clearer picture having spent a couple of seasons in Loano and cruised / explored further down towards Elba .

I arrived in SC on Saturday am.
It was blowing a bit when we got here and it increased during the afternoon.
The wind increased overnight to about 45 to 50 knots.
When the Mistral blows, we get s kind of bleed that runs down the Ebro valley int the SC region.
It was still strong in the morning.
We went off to a restaurant for lunch and by the time we got back it had all gone.
Breathless.

Any SC berthholders
All the boats are Ok
We have had stronger conditions.

BTW
Water level us high - still high.
Out pontoon bridgeheads are almost flat but no chance of flooding.

I would have thought that post Brexit you'd rather be in doubt about whether to have exposure in UK land properties... :p
