Hi, I am planning a trip via the canals to the med this summer. Doeas anybody have any advice on health insurance for cruising/port hopping down there? I am sure i need more than an E111 form but not getting much help regarding suitability from high street travel insurance companies..

Try Bishop Skinner.
They do a yachties policy to cover travel insurance in international waters.
NONE of the usual travel insurance companies will touch international.

Re: Try International Health Insurance/danmark

Pantaenius do multi trip travel insurance geared for yachties.

Your E111 will also take you a long way. We both had some expensive emergency dental treatment in Paris (two root canals, one crown), which the French social service refunded about 60-70% (I think it was about that) of.
Which would not have happened in the UK.
Good dentist, too.
But the E111 is for traveller's emergency type use, not heathcare as such.
Insurance is a good idea.

AUL do a specialist multi-trip policy for yachties called the Mariners' Annual Multi-Trip Policy. They used to sell direct but now you have to go through a subsidiary called Click4Quote.com.

Tel: 08450 899091
Email: enquiries@click4quote.com

Sorry this answers a little late- but insureandgo.com do a yearly back-packers insurance from a ridiculously cheap 80 quid- and it covers sailing in territorial waters (not sure if it covers that on its own tho....) They advertise on the buses and tubes /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
