Frightening how fast and fierce these fires are in GRP boats and how nasty and toxic the fumes are. From the news thankfully crew and passengers rescued before the yacht finally sank. No information forthcoming about the cause but of course there are now some environmental concerns

Somebody’s insurance premiums are going to be going up if this has been a total loss on a £9m boat - even more qured to salvage it for environmental reasons.

This is the real question about the incident: " ... The cause of the fire is unknown." ... We see so many boats on fire ... but we have to know WHY ???

In this case, the boat being on the sea floor would make it very difficult to ascertain. The report said it started in the engine room. Could be anything.
There was another in St. Trop which started somewhere around the bridge. Suspected electrical fault.
I doubt there's a common cause. Bar carelessness and stupidity.
