Mechanical survey advice

Looking for someone to carry out a Mechanical survey on the Thames and possibly combine it with a river trial.
Volvo experience an advantage...VolvoPaul? or is there someone more local who does a good job.

Jf for peace of mind there will be people along in a minute with suggestions. If for insurance/loan purposes then the persons qualifications for the survey will have to be acceptable to the company concerned. Same with gas and electrical inspection if any alterations/fittings post Boat Safety Certificate issue.

It's for a pre-purchase survey on my first boat. I need someone to check out the mech side thoroughly as the boat has not been used much recently.
Thanks dash300, as I have no experience I'm not aware of insurance or Boat Safety Certificate requirements for surveys but will take the advice of the surveyor and talk to an insurance company.
