After a lovely sunny weekend with friends, for logistical reasons I ended up doing hamble back to Shamrock Quay single handed.
Arrival at SQ was going to be at full ebb on springs - and if you know the marina the tide really chucks it through for a while. I put some extra fenders out but even so the 1.5knot or so flow through the marina meant there wasn't going to leave much room for error.
I contacted them and they sent a launch - they saw I had fenders rigged but no warps so they offered to come aboard and help. "No thanks, I have lines on the pontoon, can someone just pop the forward spring on my middle cleat as I come in please" (I'm upsteam). Over they went to my berth and helped exactly as requested.
"Never be afraid to ask" they said, "it's never a problem." It felt like they meant it, it wasn't a have a nice day statement.
Typical of this marina. I remain a very happy customer.
