My middle two lights (Oil & Charge) work, the outer two (Temp & Glow) and the buzzer don't.
Can I use the engine with the alarm module removed?
I have the three guages for Temp, Pressure and Voltage, so I can see if there are issues. The engine is sound and everything except the three warning signals above works fine at the moment.
I think that without the module it will start and run but not charge(?)... presumably I could enable charging by connecting a "lamp" in place of the one in the module to excite the alternator.
I want to take the unit out & strip it down to see if I can repair it but would prefer not to disable the engine while investigating (especially since I'm not optimistic it will be fixable, I suspect it's potted). I'm reluctant to spend £300 on a replacement unless I have to.
...and if the symptoms above are typical of a known failure mode, then I'd welcome suggestions on fixing it!
Thanks!
