MD11c No Water Flow

The strainer is clear? Or were you feeding cooling water from a bucket?
Does anything come out of the 3 drain cocks for draining down the two cylinder jackets and the exhaust manifold? You could have "deposits" blocking the raw water chambers.
Mine had overheating problems before I treated it with descaler.

Edit, on mine the thermostat changed the flow from bypass to cooling, so the exhaust should still have cooling from a cold engine, therefore it's probably not blocked cooling water galleries if you have no flow.

Dry Tested the MD11c today but no water appears to be coming out the exhaust as it should changed the impeller old one was turning freely but soft and it probably needs a new thermostat. The engine has only run a few times since 1998

Collapsed hoses

Blocked exhaust injection point

Blocked water inlet passages in the exhaust manifold .... See the thread that has been running recently on unblocking the cooling system on an MD2B. http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?500899-clogged-Volvo-MD2B-manifold

The sound of that Volvo brings back some good memories........ and some scary moments!

Thinking about that. If the manifold passages are blocked it will cause overheating but there should still be a flow via the bypass to the exhaust (unless the thermostat is stuck fully open ?????)

Check the hoses and the thermostat but a blocked injection point into the exhaust outlet bend is the most likely cause if the pump is OK.
