I bought my boat in 2023 and it came with a McMurdo 200 PLB. (i think this is the model anyway and at mo i cant check it as its 7000 km away in my garage) Its battery has expired and it will need reprogramming with me as the new owner of said PLB. Any of you wise folk had this done and is it even possible. Its like new condition and surely worth getting done if possible coz they are bloomin expv TYVM

I have a Fastfind 220, which like yours needed a new battery. I used Spares Marine in Dartmouth for a service etc.. Replacement battery and other parts cost £145.95, incl. VAT & post. Now has a 10 year re-service interval. Quite a bit cheaper than a new one plus the advantage that i could update the existing registration details on the MCA website very simply without having the faff of registering a new plb from scratch.

I have a McMurdo Epirb that works fine tested by the local agent, but McMurdo will not supply replacement batteries and will only sell me a new one.

I did get it reprogrammed and new battery by a third-party battery supplier first in the UK and later where I live with same battery manufacturer that supply lithium batteries for EPIRB's

If you wish to know who I used in the UK, please PM me and I will respond with their details
