Mcgregor 19 Powersailer

Well hy guy's ,im a novice sailor as well being used to power cruisers ,petrol prices being the deciding factor , i have decided to buy a mac 19 and learn to sail in the lakes , winder-mere , there a lots going for the boat and some negs as well , but after reading the comments i intend to go ahead and let peeps snigger ;) then later on when i feel more competent , maybe a bigger offshore boat , but many thanks for your posts n thoughts ;)

A two shillings outboard? I had no idea they were ever that cheap...
:D Funny Coaster but maybe lost on some of our younger contributers;)

Yoh Searush, no a big diesel outboard would not help.
In fact the latest petrol outboards like the Evinrude 'E' tecs etc are quite frugel on fuel.
The Mcgregor does what it says on the tin
But One must consider which Tin yer sail Her in!!
In one way She is nowt nor summat
The debate will go on of course:rolleyes:

S'pose thats my fault , but being a total novice at sailing i was searching for advice and was directed here , gladly i think ;)

Welcome to the forum. Some people have the forum set so they don't see old posts when they are revived.

Sometimes it is better to start a new thread and link to the old one or quote a post post from it.

I love decades old threads that keep getting revived over the years. I primarily sail, but was looking at an M19 and was impressed. It would make a great little platform for relaxed cockpit fishing, lazy sailing, or towing a little kid around on a floaty at speeds that won't break anything.

or towing a little kid around on a floaty at speeds that won't break anything.
i think, even in 2011- towing children at any speed was deemed rather risky should any limbs of said Tots get broken or am I just being Old Fashioned / Superstitious as I enter my 13th Decade on here?:D

Actually, I guess people in the USA are generally babied and considered kids until 18, and "little" is a relative term, so I guess I should have specified age and height?
