I see from the news on this site that the mca have stationed boats around the country (4) with more to follow one to be in southampton, is this a waste of tax payers money? i would have thought it would have been better to use it on teachers pay, firemen etc...........what do you think.....keith

HMCG was saying that he may be able to set up a forum with Kim, à la RYA, for one of their bosses, though I haven’t heard if he got anywhere: perhaps if it is still possible, a question to ask then?

Re: mca - includes pictures - long download

The new boats are to replace existing rhibs which operate around the UK. They have various functions including SAR prevention, transport of Coastguard personnel to incidents in remote areas, transport of survey and inspection staff to vessel not berthed in harbours and local knowledge patrols.

The number of boats in the UK operated by MCA will actually be dropping as the old rhibs are being replaced by fewer bigger faster rhibs and cabin rhibs. The company that has manufactured them is Halmatic.

The boats consist of 1 RTK marine 9m logistic support boat
