I need to replace or put on all of the MCA coding stickers onto the boat as I am switching it from Spanish Coding to MCA coding. Is there anywhere to get a pack from? Anyone else know a good company that supplies them (and knows what I need)

Thanks

Paul

Paul, as I've said on here before, the "secret" of coding a boat (if you're a fussy geek like me) is to do it subtley so no-one can even tell it's coded. Hide the horseshoes in a locker, kinda thing.

All the bought stickers are ugly. Bright yellow or too big. Best solution imho is buy a modern dymo/brother printer and a selection of tapes. Then the window stickers can be printed on transparent tape in small font with minimum word count, and the cockpit stickers can be done in black on white background, etc.

Brother P-touch are excellent, sub £50 from Maplin and lots of places The stickers last many years, even outside. Doubles up as a labeller for wiring/circuits http://www.brother.co.uk/g3.cfm/s_page/161350/s_name/labelprintersshowcasepage1

Suggest though if you buy a brother p touch printer that you hide it when not in use. Because some people cannot resist using it and shortly everything will be labelled to within an inch of its life.

Hi Pau have Imissed something her? l if you are changing it to MCA coding surely you will need a survey and inspection by an approved MCA surveyor. Once the coding is approved they will send you the stickers for the year. One cant just "buy" these stickers surely? this would make a mockery of the MCA inspections and the associated costs of coding a boat

No, he means the stickers like "Keep shut at sea" on the windows and stuff like that. Not the annual "licence" sticker

That is right, all those annoying stickers that ruin a boats looks! Thanks for the tip, I will get one of those machines when back in the UK and get to work with them.

The boat is being professionally surveyed for MCA coding but I have a list to sort out first.

Cheers again everyone

Paul

Hi Paul yes I got that wrong must have been the "MCA coding stickers" bit thought you meant the official sticker doh.. I have a machine which I use to print out the
"not to be opened at sea" type self adhesive stickers, you are welcome to use it.

I will be down early next week. Let me know
