Its fairly obvious whats happened here.

In expectation of a massive increase in circulation due to TCM's contribution, the powers that be printed too many copies. These are now blocking the door in the despatch bay and they cannot get Marchs edition out.

The cost of loading the surpus Feb issues on a container and disposing of them was prohibative so Tom, being new to the job and out to impress, instructed all staff to get licking stamps and send them all again.

However, this action could be a major investment opportunity. Keep it in its wrapper unopened. In fifty years time take it to the Antiques Roadshow and tell them it is the TCM special. It will be worth a fortune.

Some answers

Have now had a chance to do some checking and here are definitive answers:

a) all subscription orders placed for MBY or MBM at the 2003 London Boat Show will be treated as if they commenced with the March 2003 issue. Apologies for the confusion - we will look at why the commencement date was not clear and take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again. By all means print this post off for your records.

b) we are checking now why MBY March is missing for some new orders placed at London. this matter is being treated with urgency. Again, we'll be investigating why but first want to concentrate on getting issues to you.

c) a reminder that MBM March is not due out until 20 Feb (MBY goes on sale first Thursday of every month; MBM third Thursday of every month - both in the month preceding cover date)

I would once again reiterate that there is no attempt on our part to cheat or con anyone who placed an order at the London Boat Show. My apologies that we have had problems but we do promise to deal with them and to take steps to guard against similar issues in the future.

Sorry

Kim, Not received mine either.

All rather ????? I'm afraid. Suggest that Tom activates my original suggestion and gets someone independent to look at Sales/distribution processes.

Re: Sorry

Hi there,

It's already above Tom and heading further skywards as we speak. It's a specific issue with the way that subs were handled at this specific show; namely (and somewhat ironically) we tried, apparently, to respond to previous criticisms from some buyers who wanted Feb issue commencement. That means bypassing the normal computer system which in turn upsets the applecart which in turn means that I am sat here feeling stupid for not having organised to manually post out the missing issues from here on Monday.

I'm going to ask to get your sub extended as compensation; will mail you tomorrow once I have answers.

Different person already appointed to handle next major show subs orders.

Re: Sorry

Kim is there no bounds to your talents, or like me these days, are you a sort of one and a half man band. Wondered if the documentary POST MAN PAT or BOB THE BUILDER would be of any help. We could all sing it if you like.. Which one would you prefer??...................../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
