Why on earth are you messing about with the perfectly good online iPad service? It was fast and reliable.

I have now lost all my downloads of the MBY magazines for the last two or more years! I can’t even get the current issue.

The service was brilliant and now it’s useless! Nothing downloads and the site is awful, come on MBY get it sorted or go back to the way it was!

Looks like an app change from the publisher across their stable of magazines. Have you tried either hitting 'restore purchases' if bought via iTunes, or signing in with previous details? All prior purchases should then be available; certainly were for me. Can't comment as to having to re-download as I only ever keep the latest copy locally. Seems easy enough to download past copies - I just select the month and then choose to download.

It does appear that you now have to wait for the whole issue to download before reading, rather than have the ability to start straight away, so that does slow down the process somewhat, again in my experience.

I too prefer the tactile nature of reading. Of course, boat review videos can't be done in print format but if and when I need that aspect I can go online for it.

It's a really odd thing e-publishing. In theory the online version should be so much better with interactive content and more options such as video content but so many of us prefer the magazine even though it leaves us with a mountain of paper that we can't throw away.

We've ditched CDs in favour of digital, why can't we do the same for the magazines ?

Henry :)

Trouble is, even on an iPad Pro, the viewable area is still smaller than an actual magazine.
And if a paper magazine falls into the bath, it's "oops, soggy paper", which can be restored to a wrinkly former version of itself after spending quality time in the airing cupboard.
A similar fall with an iPad results in a Genius Bar visit.

It's not the fact it's an e-pub that's the problem, it's that tablet technology is still not Star-Trek enough.
(waterproof, slim, light, flexible, viewable area all to the way to the edge of the screen).

Yes I’ve tried logging in again several times, I’ve hit restore purchases which tells me they’ve been restored, but nothing! Hit download and it appears to work but just hangs on 2% all other front pages are just blank!

I take both versions hard and soft, as I find I’m often just out and only have the iPad with me! To my mind it worked absolutely perfectly and the downloads were so fast it always surprised me! Now it’s bloody useless!
So MBY, get it sorted or you’ve lost my business!

The problem could be at your end.

I would try deleting the App itself, then download it again to your tablet.
Then go into Settings, General, Reset, "Reset Network Settings" (you will lose stored credentials for Wifi networks).

Log in and try again.
(downloading an issue takes 30 seconds for me over Wifi ... I just tried it)
