Returned last Sunday (flat crossing) after a week of patrolling the Channel islands with 24 boats.

But what a great week - good cruising, good food, great company, met the Godfather of Guernsey (Dom of Solly fame), Gala evening with prize giving.

Will be written up in the August issue of MBM.

Glad you had a good time. If you are involved next year and want some help organising stuff then give me a call. spoke to Buzz White yesterday who is quite happy to do his up and close to rocks trip again next year if you guys want it.

Let me know, also re disount hire car rates and anything else. Tell Tom he can buy me a beer for running around for his stainless steel crews ;-)

Thanks Dom.

I remember last year when Buzz took Calm Voyager (and I followed in Play d'eau) to circumnavigate Herm and Sark, at exactly the time of low tide, on one of the lowest astronomic tides of the year!

He said 'follow me' exactly. When I asked 'how far can I be left or right of your track', he replied (in his laconic manner) 'none', and off he went.

At one narrow path between rocks, we were stationary, but the log showed 11 knots through the water - you could see the difference in water levels at each ends of the path....

Exciting or what?

Get it back on the itineray for next year then, Get video footage and use this for MBM to sell more mags as do Performance Bikes with their trips. That is one of the things I lve about cruising around the CI is the amount of narrow passages you can go through to scare the draws of your passengers eh Col??

Dom,
off subject I know but as our resident guide to the Channel Islands, could you advise on how the Golden Jubilee weekend is likely to be? I'm assuming it's celebrated there so it will be busy and shops etc closed? I guess pubs / restaraunts etc will all be firing on all 5 cylinders (sorry that just kindda popped out!).

Very funny ....not

Yeah we will be in full swing here but I will be in Lezadrieux just booked my flights.

If you want some numbers to book in advance let me know if not you'll have to queue at the chippy with everyone else ;-) Marina might be quite full.

On another note I took the wife to Saltwater Restaurant again last night, very good well worth a visit had 3 courser wine water and tip £62.

You probably have the same dilemma on a sunny morning as myself. Her indoors is as keen on boating as myself but hates the bike (with a passion). Therefore the boat wins. Don't get me wrong, I love being on the boat but it's moored near a popular biking road and I can't help getting itchy listening to the boys on their morning blast.

Only have a 125 scoot to get me to work these days but am looking at a Suzuki SV650s as a replacement. Great bike for Guernsey Vtwin with SWB and loads of fun round the corners ;-)

Take your bike to the boat via this road and meet thewife there thats what I'd do. Its not swanage is it thats a fantastic road from the ferry.

We're moored in the ditch at Henley which causes further 'discussions' with my other half. She likes the river but I prefer wide open spaces. We try to get to Suffolk and / or Kent at least once a year.

The SV is an underated bike by all accounts. I know a guy who reguarly takes the p1ss out of R1 and Fireblade riders on his. You'd probably need to nip accross to France to use 3rd gear and above.

I doubt it I was kicked off the roads years ago (14 month ban) for 103 mph round a corner on a TZR 250 so as the SV dimensions are similar I expect better handling and speeds altogether.

Re: MotorBike Chat ??

I'm sure this is very relvant to Boats.
Keeping a bike on board as a runabout is a damn fine idea and with some of the boats used here, a Harley would fit in one of the deck lockers ;-))))
